ベクエア2100便のフォッカー100がアルマトイ空港からの離陸中に付近の建物に激突した。
同機は滑走路05Rを離陸したが直後に高度を維持できなくなり、進路が右にそれ、空港外周部のフェンスを突破し、滑走路横の住宅地の2階建て住居に激突した。機体はバラバラになったが、火災は発生していない。
機体は滑走路05Rから680メートル地点で静止した。生き残った乗客によれば機体は離陸時に「激しく振動しはじめた」とし、左右にロールしはじめてから高度を落とし、住宅に衝突したという。
カザフスタン政府保健副大臣によれば死亡12名、47名が負傷しうち8名が重篤な状態という。
事故当時の搭乗者数では報道内容が食い違っている。乗客マニフェストでは96名、乗員5名とあるが、アルマトイ空港の発表では乗客93名乗員5名とある。
